Who we are
WEed Science Team - WEST is a research group based in Agricultural University of Athens, led by Associate Professor Ilias Travlos and specialised in agroecological, sustainable and integrated crop and weed management. Our research studies extend to several crops (cereals, legumes, forages, industrial, energy, cover crops etc.) and include a wide range of scientific topics like agroecological weed and crop management, herbicide resistance screening and management, non-chemical weed management methods (cultural, mechanical, thermal, biological etc.), novel and smart farming approaches, invasive species etc.
Our philosophy is to give answers to “real farm” questions and challenges in a systematic way, build a network of living labs and experimental fields, develop synergies in Greece and abroad and communicate the results of our work directly with the farmers, agronomists, advisors and other interested parts.
Our work is based on the establishment of Living Labs as a multi-actor participatory approach which allows the implementation of experimental and demonstration activities, provides feedback from the stakeholders and ensures a wide dissemination of our activities.
