Pelargonic acid and evaluation of its different formulations against weeds

The application of chemical herbicides is the main method of weed control. However, recently there has been a strong interest in the field of organic compounds and alternative methods of weed management.
As the President of the Hellenic Weed Science Society & Board Member of the European Weed Research Society Prof. Travlos points out, "within the framework of the European Green Deal and the "From Farm to Fork" strategy, specific objectives have been set at the EU level with a time horizon of 2030, among which is the reduction of the use of chemical plant protection products by 50%. This fact makes the need urgent to develop and evaluate alternative (non-chemical) substances for the management of pests, diseases and of course weeds".
